As a trans person, I want to push back against this a bit. Doctors mistreat patients seeking birth control, and they do mistreat trans patients, sometimes. As well as patients from other marginalized groups such as Black women and fat people. There are a lot of injustices in the medical field that do need highlighting quite desperately, that is part of the point of this post. The fact that doctors are ill-informed on certain issues and are often bigoted is not a reason to deny vulnerable patients care. It's a reason to expand access, informed consent, and patient rights. Here is a great article on one surgeon who repeatedly harmed trans women patients and didn't face recourse, for example: https://jezebel.com/when-surgeons-fail-their-trans-patients-1844774990
