Asexual and bisexual people challenge the binary by showing that there are many ways to be attracted (or not attracted) to people. Asexual people challege norms that say men and women must monogamously bond with one another, that a man and a woman complement one another as opposites that must be paired off; so too do bisexuals. And bisexuality does not reinforce the gender binary, that is a common misunderstanding. “Bi” in the label does not refer to there only being two genders. It refers to a person having 2 or more paths of attraction. I suggest you Google it to find some awesome explanations. Bisexual people have been openly supporting nonbinary people like me, and including us in their language and models of attraction since the early 1990s.
