I'd put it a slightly different way: for trans men, there is more of a social incentive to transition, because masculinity is valued by society and it does offer some promise of an escape from sexism. This may be part of why trans mascs transition at younger ages on average than trans femmes; to reject a male identity that society says is the ideal is far harder and is punished every step of the way.
