Isn’t it just astonishing how many insults and curses that we don’t even pause to think about have their roots in homophobia or transphobia? Even the entymology of the word “bad” is homophobic and transmisogynistic — its root word meant “effeminate man”. The desire to pair queerness with awfulness is so ancient!

People sometimes get really defensive or resistant when they’re reminded of this stuff, because it forces them to really be careful about how they speak. But I think it’s so important for us to be reminded of just how deep society’s queerphobia goes. It’s not our fault that society has given us such awful and dangerous tools and has encouraged us to use them as weapons, but every day we get to make the choice to opt out of that.

And I resonated with that bit about not knowing how to properly suck a dick at first, too. I did a hilarious amount of online research before my first attempt, I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t had access to that. And I still had no idea what to do the first time I was with an uncut guy. Kind of endearing to look back on, ha ha.
