It’s not about the essentialness of the thing being missed, it’s about how hard it is for the person to not miss it. It doesn’t matter how important the meeting is, if I have a barrier that makes arriving at a paticular time difficult, I will still have that barrier. Our needs are not negotiable, but often the expectations set for us ought to be and can be.
