I cried recognizing myself and my lost adolescence. I cried because something bad that happens to Charlie early in the story happened to me when I was 15, only it didn’t get better for me. I didn’t overcome, because in my day that wasn’t possible. I couldn’t be ordinary. All I could do was keep my head down and suffer.
