Mental illness is not an excuse for stalking or abuse. It’s a contextual factor, but it’s really dangerous to those of us with mental illness ( and inaccurate) to describe repeated, ongoing, decades long patterns as byproducts of a disorder. I’m not concerned with crafting elaborate hypotheticals as to why he did what he did. I’m sure there are many factors. And none of it was acceptable. And he got away with a lot of it because he was a white, elite man.
