Mrs. Grundy is so alive that even posting a link to this essay got me flagged for "posting nsfw content" on both Twitter and Tumblr! Even mentioning and criticizing content moderation is verboten because doing so acknowledges the existence of sex and porn now. It's so upsetting how these prejudices are now automated, in addition to the huge numbers of people openly endorsing them. The second I posted this piece I got a message accusing me of condoning the abuse of women. As if all erotic art and archival work has to answer for the worst abuses of a sector of the porn industry. Sigh.
