Shortly before I came out, I had to do a TV interview, and I remember breaking down with anxiety at the thought of being put through makeup. I almost cancelled the interview because it felt so wrong to be subjected to it. Thankfully I was able to get the show’s makeup artist to just give me the same neutral/minimal makeup they give to the men.
