Thank you for the video rec and the comment, Vivian! I think that opposition to transmisogyny probably does need to look a bit different from opposition to transphobia more generally, and opposition to how transphobia looks for trans men. For instance, many trans men are very outspoken that they wish to be included in feminist spaces, lesbian spaces, and so on -- to have their social positionality be considered alongside their manhood, let's say, and have both be honored. Fair enough. But this is a very different need from the need trans women have to be seen as belonging inherently to feminist and queer women's spaces, and in fact, many places include trans men *because of their biology* and exclude trans women for the same reason. So we need a dramatically different formulation of gendered oppression that isn't so focused on biology, and we need cis women and other people affected by misogyny to really step up and affirm that trans women belong in their ranks, and in fact should be central to feminist concerns. I don't know how we get there, though, because a lot of cis women and trans men alike stand to gain by centering themselves.

And this brings me to the moral argument piece you mentioned --I am inclined very strongly to agree with the idea that morality is not the chief concern or predictor here. Global acts of evil like genocide and colonization happen because of class interests and power, not because of morality. The US government has never concerned itself with morality, only with gaining land and resources, and the actions of the powerful can pretty much always be predicted this way. Transphobes do not care about the protection of women and girls, or else they wouldn't support child abusers and laws that make child labor and forced pregnancy more common. They care about subordination and maintaining the existing structure that benefits them -- and I think the same can be said of the US continuing to support Israel no matter what it does.
