I had to leave so many "resistance" groups after Trump's election because of the endless homophobic jokes about Trump being in bed with Putin, Pence being a closeted gay man, and on and on and on. The glee with which some cishet people reached for those homophobic tropes was disturbing. I especially love the nuance you inserted here, about how there is no harm in affect groups dabbling in some ironic skewering -- as long as it's in private, as a pressure valve.
