Thank you so much for writing these, James. This piece is so evocative. I’ve often wondered how it felt to be part of the Act Up protests, how it felt to plan big actions that would almost certainly result in being arrested or worse. I’ve been in protests that resulted in police violence and running through the streets trying to escape, but I never really knew it was going to go that way when it started. I guess it probably always feels surreal, knowing that you have to make that choice because it’s the right thing to do.
I hadn’t read any of the Brad pieces before this, because I thought I needed to probably start from the beginning and catch up when I had time. I’m so glad that I dove right in today. This is a fully realized work in its own right, though I’ll be happy to read back and get even more context. Thanks for all that you do.
