Thank you so much for writing this, it was truly illuminating. So much of the public conversation about white fragility and white tears focuses on white women, and it's so important to highlight the aggressive, violent ways that white male resistance to anti-racism can manifest.

I used to write a lot about being a sexual assault survivor, and when I did, I would receive intense emails from men who had victimized people. They'd tell me in detail about the horrible things they had done, and would be very overwrought about how badly they felt about it, and how much they hated themselves for having done all of it. Then they would demand that I give them advice on how to make things right with their victims. It was disgustingly self-involved, performative stuff, rooted in a deep fragility and entitlement...but nowhere near as hateful and destructive as the messages and threats you have received.
