I think the title definitely does lead people to think my point is something other than what it is… I have a prior essay, “Women Who’ve Told Me How My Body Should Be” that I think was a bit more successful both in terms of title and framing… it didn’t run the risk of being perceived as blaming the victim as much as this one does run that risk. Maybe internalized sexism is a better term?
