Thanks both for your comments. I think what you are describing is absolutely real, Judy. I know so many trans women who have gone through that -- and even been treated as less competent by the other women around them, as well as men, as soon as they come out. Different stereotypes get activated and people are held to different standards based on how they are perceived, absolutely.
