Yes, I’ve definitely been fed the same lines from people — I should be grateful, I should enjoy it while it lasts, etc. The thing is, I was never interested in getting to know someone who wanted to ask me out or spend time with me based solely on what I look like. That very fact tells me so much about a person’s priorities and outlook that I can be pretty certain I would never jibe with them. This was even more the case when my appearance felt less authentic than it does now.
