The descriptive is not prescriptive here. My experience is not what I expect or recommend for others. It’s just what happened. I can’t appreciate the work of a writer that loathsome who also has a reputation for being highly moral. Puts an awful taste in my mouth and reminds me of my own abuser. But you are not me, and can let this information about DFW impact your interest in his work as little or as much as you like.
