Wow, thank you so much for sharing James. I'm so glad that your son had a compassoinate social worker who saw through the doom and gloom and jadedness that leaves some to write the kids in their caseload off in that way -- and that you and your partner were able to give him the secure base he needed to push back, and challenge his learned expectations, and then finally learn that he was save. It's really a beautiful thing, I wish more kids with attachment struggles received that kind of support. And yes, none of this is fully antipsychiatry by any means, and when people do need or benefit from medication to help them cope and grow and thrive, that's a completely sensible response, including if the trauma they endured was social or contextual -- these things bleed into one another, we have to heal or bodies and minds together.
