Wow, thanks for adding this context James! It makes sense to me I think that people might want to believe their ED is caused by something with a biological connotation (since many of us have had the idea that addiction is a 'disease' hammered home really strongly in the last few decades) rather than explore the far murkier and more frustrating possibility that it's a combination of physiological factors, psychological ones, and just one of those things that happens to people sometimes as circumstances and their bodies change. If porn addiction were the clear-cut cause, the solution would seem simpler -- even tho in practice stopping all porn viewing or masturbation might be tough and come with its own negative health effects. Then again, lots of people do report that when they don't masturbate as much, their libidos seem to ramp up, so it makes sense people might connect those dots or see a short-term solution... it's fascinating stuff and understandably really emotionally intense and wrapped up in a person's identity, so I'm not surprised your article got such an enthusiastic response! I'll have to track it down!
