…the things we said we'd do in the grant proposals were rarely the things we actually ended up doing (which makes a lot of sense -- it's hard to plan "systemic change" in advance). Adding this book to my list!
I worked in a nonprofit (a few, actually) for years, and a lot of this rings true.

Yeah! And if your org really is driven by the needs of its community in a grassroots way, the work in theory will be forever changing, and that kind of liberatory work is just not easy to put in a program evaluation.
